Leading England batsman Jos Buttler has encountered yet another obstacle in his recuperation from a calf strain that kept him out of Lancashire’s T20 Blast quarterfinal match. For England’s next Twenty20 International match against Australia, he is still doubtful. On September 11, the teams will play their maiden Twenty20 International match.
But in the event that Buttler is unavailable, either Phil Salt or Sam Curran will assume command. It’s more likely that the 33-year-old will play despite the injury because he isn’t expected to play as a wicketkeeper.
The ECB hopes that Jos Buttler will be able to lead them in the white-ball tour, so they are not very concerned about his fitness.
Since England’s loss to India in the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal, Buttler has not participated in any cricket matches. After several weeks of rehabilitation following his injury received in July 2024, he was hoping to make a comeback in the forthcoming T20 Blast match. Dale Benkenstein, the head coach of Lancashire, disclosed that he has exacerbated his condition and will not be available.
“He had an injury that he was healing from, and he kind of tweaked it again, so we have some bad news regarding his recuperation. Not only is he out of our T20s, but I believe he’s having trouble making the foreign ones as well. Dale Benkenstein was cited as saying, “He was very eager to play for us.”

Lancashire’s offensive weapons for the match will include players like Saqib Mahmood, Liam Livingstone, and Salt in addition to Buttler. Despite Buttler’s absence, Lancashire will attempt to make a strong impression in Hove as the game has been sold out for the past two weeks.
