According to Marnus Labuschagne, Australia has moved on from the turmoil surrounding Jonny Bairstow dismissal during the Ashes this summer. Australia and England are preparing for their ODI World Cup match, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 4, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
There have been a number of controversies around the England 2023 Ashes series. The most noteworthy was the wicket-keeper batter for England being dismissed. According to Labuschagned, Australia has already evolved past that.
“It’s impossible for anything to happen with Jonny Bairstow.”
It’s buried deep down and not really something we discuss or talk about. India Today cited Labuschagne as saying, “I don’t think anyone’s view or thoughts have changed on the decision about what happened, and we just move on.”
“That conversation was had months and months ago as players; it’s happened; I think everyone’s moved on. I know Jonny came out and spoke about it a few months ago, but we prerecorded stuff, and then it came out two months later, so it feels like it’s topical again now,” he continued.
Speaking further on England’s dismal performance in the competition, Marnus Labuschagne said that they will be the most dangerous team to play against since they have nothing to lose. The 29-year-old acknowledged that England’s performances should not be used to evaluate them and that they will do well when they play each other. Notably, after winning only one of their six matches, England finds itself at the bottom of the ODI World Cup points table.
“Obviously, England’s terrible form is the main factor; I don’t think there’s much more to it. However, that does imply that they are hazardous. England is a team that may be dangerous when they are struggling. Let’s not become fixated on their performance. We have to give it our all because they’re a strong team and individual players,” the Australian said.
