During a post-match conversation, former England cricketer Jonathan Trott inadvertently disclosed the house location of star Indian batsman Virat Kohli in London.
The incident happened on July 6, following India’s historic victory over England by 336 runs at Edgbaston.
India became the first Asian team to win in Edgbaston, their first time at the legendary stadium. The team’s first crucial Test match since the retirement of key players like Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Virat Kohli made the triumph much more noteworthy. The team rallied to tie the series 1-1 with the leadership and strong batting of Shubman Gill, as well as game-winning performances by Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj.
Trott discussed Kohli’s post for the Indian squad during the post-match talk on Sony Sports Network, pointing out that the 36-year-old might be missing the dressing room. Trott unintentionally revealed the batting maestro’s London address in the process.
Does he not reside in or close to St. John’s Wood? Is it not possible to convince him to return? Returning to Virat Kohli’s post, it’s understandable why he longs for the atmosphere of the dressing room. When you give up the game, I often wonder how quickly that emotion returns,” Trott remarked.
India’s stunning victory at Edgbaston: Virat Kohli
Notably, St. John’s Wood is only 2.5 miles away from Kohli’s home in Notting Hill, according to an article in The Telegraph. Kohli has mostly avoided the media since he quit from Test and T20I cricket. He made his final public appearance at the contentious IPL championship parade for RCB.
He and his family have been living in the UK ever since. He even entertained some Indian players at his London home prior to the India-England Test series. He praised the team’s performance following India’s resounding victory at Edgbaston, highlighting Gill’s leadership and Akash and Siraj’s skill with the ball.
“India achieved a huge victory at Edgbaston. Unafraid, they persisted in driving England to the edge. Shubhman led the team brilliantly both in the field and at bat, and everyone gave strong performances. In his article on X, he gave Siraj and Akash special credit for their bowling performance on this pitch.
