Jon Lewis has been named the head coach of UP Warriorz in the WPL.

The UP Warriorz, a Capri Global Holdings-owned Women’s Premier League (WPL) side headquartered in Lucknow, will have several support staff members including Jon Lewis, Anju Jain, Lisa Sthalekar, and Ashley Noffke.

Anju Jain, a former India captain and Bangladesh coach, will serve as the squad’s assistant coach under Jon Lewis, the current head coach of the England national team. The team’s mentor is Sthalekar, a legend of Australian cricket and well-known pundit, and Noffke, a former men’s all-rounder for Australia who has created a name for himself as a women’s cricket coach over the years.

Jon Lewis stated in a statement that he anticipated his time with Warriorz to “be an exhilarating ride for the next several months and a fascinating glimpse into the depth of cricket in India.”

In the words of the player, “The WPL is a significant step forward for women’s cricket globally and I am pleased to be a crucial part of this journey.” The process will be made much simpler by the presence of Anju Jain, Ashley Noffke, and Lisa Sthalekar, who each bring a variety of experiences to the dugout.

Jon Lewis played top-flight cricket in England for nearly 20 years before becoming a well-known coach. He primarily played for Gloucestershire and also played for Surrey and Sussex, where he completed his career in 2014. Additionally, he played in a Test, 13 ODIs, and two T20Is.

The player auction to assemble the five squads will take place on February 13 and the WPL will be played in two locations in Mumbai from March 4 to March 26. Capri purchased the Lucknow-based team at the auction on January 25 for INR 757 crore (about $ 92.85 million).
