Jofra Archer expected to be fit for second Test against India

It is probable that Jofra Archer will start the second Test of the five-match series against India. For the first time in more than four years, Jofra Archer might be playing Test cricket again. During the 2021 away tour of India, Archer was the final member of the English Test team. The great pacer was unable to play in the ODI series against the West Indies due to a thumb ailment that he sustained recently.

Due to his ongoing recuperation from the injury, the fast bowler was also unable to participate in the India A vs. England Lions series. Jofra Archer is expected to be included in the squad for the second Test since he is almost fully recovered while Mark Wood is still sidelined due to a knee injury he sustained earlier this year.

According to Luke Wright, Archer is recuperating nicely. The great pacer will participate in the match between Sussex and Durham in a few days, according to the English team’s chief selector.

If all goes according to plan, Wright said Jofra Archer would be available for the second Test.

“Joff is actually chugging along quite nicely. He is participating in a couple games for the second team. He is getting some playing time in Sussex’s second team, and it is planned for him to play in the first Test match against Durham on the 23rd, I believe. Luke Wright told Sky Sports that if everything goes according to plan, he will play for Sussex and, hopefully, be eligible for the second Test.

According to Wright, Jofra Archer is fully healthy and could play most of the series against India, which is a pivotal match for the host team in the World Test Championship Cycle 2025–17.

“He must continue to tick off each day without experiencing any setbacks, just like with all these bowlers. However, he could be selected for that second Test if everything goes according to plan and he wins that Durham match,” Wright continued.
