Joe Root

Star batsman Joe Root is encouraged by former England cricketer Michael Vaughan to surpass the record held by the great Sachin Tendulkar for the most runs in Test cricket history. At Trent Bridge, Joe Root just scored his 32nd Test century while against the West Indies.

Root overtook Shivnarine Chanderpaul as the eighth-highest run-getter in Test format thanks to his outstanding innings. It’s important to note that Joe Root has 11,940 runs in 142 Test matches. In addition, Sachin Tendulkar has played in exactly 200 Test matches over his career, amassing 15,921 runs.

Michel Vaughan encouraged Joe Root to smash the record as he was getting closer and closer to Tendulkar’s mark.

Joe Root is so exceptional that he has the potential to surpass Sachin Tendulkar in the near future and will emerge as England’s top run scorer in the coming months. They didn’t appear as careless with the bat as they had in the past, overall. Although they are scoring goals rapidly, it doesn’t seem like their egos are taking control. Simply put, they are acting sensibly,” Vaughan stated in his Telegraph piece.

Root is undoubtedly essential to that as the rock, and Vaughan said, “I love that he kept the reverse-scoop in the locker until he was past 100 and England’s lead was massive.”

The fact that Joe Root is trying to surpass the records held by former England batter Alastair Cook is also noteworthy. Root is getting close to England batting great Cook’s record of 33 Test hundreds. Additionally, he needs 532 more runs to surpass Cook as the national team’s top Test run scorer.
