After stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma led his team to their most successful run chase in the history of the event, RCB exacted sweet revenge in the IPL 2025. The right-handed batter made a similar move after hitting the winning runs, although he did not toss the helmet.
Following an exciting six-wicket victory at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on May 27, 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made fun of bowler Avesh Khan of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The joke referenced Avesh’s notorious helmet celebration from the 2023 Indian Premier League in addition to the victory.
After LSG defeated RCB by a slim margin of one wicket in the IPL 2023, the bowler made headlines by throwing his helmet to the ground in celebration. Avesh was chastised for violating the Code of Conduct after the gesture garnered a lot of attention and was lambasted by many for lacking sportsmanship.
“The helmet was not tossed. “We appreciate it,” RCB wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Phil Salt (30) and Virat Kohli (54) gave the RCB a strong start in their chase of 228. However, Jitesh Sharma, the replacement captain, was the standout batsman.
With Rajat Patidar out due to injury, Jitesh Sharma took the lead and amassed an undefeated 85 off just 33 balls with a strike rate of 257.58, which included eight boundaries and six massive sixes. He and Mayank Agarwal (41* off 23) had an unbroken 107-run partnership that made sure RCB finished with eight balls remaining.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant had earlier reserved his best for last, scoring an undefeated 118 off 61 to help his team surpass the 200-run milestone. In addition to guaranteeing RCB’s second victory, the victory put them in the top two of the points chart and qualified them to play Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1.
“I was considering simply remaining in the moment, but I am unable to articulate my ideas. I considered going deep into the game when Virat left, and my tutor Dinesh Karthik told me that I could finish the game in any circumstance with my level of skill. During the post-match interview, Jitesh stated, “This is a very big franchise, and I am enjoying the pressure. When I see these players (like Virat, Krunal, and Bhuvi), I feel excited that I am getting to play with these players.”
