We are pleased to announce that JioStar’s linear and over-the-top (OTT) platforms will broadcast Season 2 of the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL), marking a major advancement for India’s esports scene.
The league will be shown on national television for the first time, providing five to eight hours of live action every day. From April 27 to May 2, between 11 AM and 8 PM, fans can watch every exciting minute of this larger, bolder, and better season on JioHotstar and Star Sports.
The world’s first e-Cricket league’s rapid rise from a sensational debut season to its current position alongside the nation’s premier athletic events is reflected in this association. The JioStar GEPL marks a turning point in Indian esports by putting the property in the centre of popular sports and entertainment and enhancing its aspirations to become a national sensation.
GEPL Season 2 will include 34 high-stakes matches in Bengaluru from 27 April to May 2, building on the excitement of Season 1. The prize pool this season is much larger at ₹3.05 crore, up from ₹2.51 crore the previous year. The league’s team-based structure is maintained by Real CricketTM. A significant turning point in the league’s history is Season 2, as player interest has increased fivefold, from 200,000 registrations in Season 1 to over 910,000 this year.
“The GEPL is a high-energy league that reflects the scale and professionalism of traditional sports,” stated Mr. Rajan Navani, Founder & CEO of JetSynthesys. Our collaboration with JioStar is significant because it solidifies our position on the largest broadcast stage in India. This establishes the standard for what esports in India can do, acknowledging the top athletes and emerging stars of a new sport while also creating a thriving economic ecosystem.
“With Season 2, we’ve refined our vision for GEPL that facilitates player development, team growth, and fan engagement at scale,” said Mr Rohit Potphode, CEO and League Commissioner.
