Jimmy Anderson didn’t make any difference, so I won’t play him in the Headingley Test next week. Michael Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has said that experienced pacer Jimmy Anderson hasn’t done anything in the first two Ashes Tests.

He wants the team management to take him out of the next match at Headingley because he hasn’t done anything. Notably, the 40-year-old took only one wicket in the first Test at Edgbaston. After the match, Anderson said that he would be a flop if the pitches didn’t change for the rest of the series.

When he got to Lord’s, he took one wicket in each game and looked very bad. The Australian hitters have had no trouble with his short balls because they have found it easy and natural to play against him. When Vaughan looked at the same thing, he said that Anderson has lost his energy and that someone like Mark Wood should come in because his extra speed can make an immediate difference.

“After this, there are three more tests, and he can’t play everyone. Next week, I won’t invite him. He hasn’t made any difference at all. He’s a great player, but you see him drop saves on the pitch. “I’ve never seen Jimmy Anderson do that before. He’s so good in the field,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.

“His bowling just hasn’t had that zip, and if England is going to go with the short ball theory, they’re going to have to go with someone like Mark Wood who has a little bit more speed,” the 48-year-old said.

Not saying Jimmy is done: Vaughan said it’s not the end for the famous cricket player because he can come back to the team soon but needs a break for now. He thinks Jimmy Anderson will come back for the fourth Test in Manchester and then move things along.

“Not to say that Jimmy is finished. Miss next week and might play in the 4th Test at Old Trafford, his home field. Just take him off for a week. “He’s 41, and he probably needs a break after bowling in two Tests in a row on very calm pitches,” he said.
