West Indies have named a 16-man squad for the July 20 five-match T20I series against Australia. The team includes Jewel Andrew and Jediah Blades, two promising rookies making their T20I debuts.
The selectors saw 18-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Jewel Andrew, Jediah Blades get maiden call-up in West Indies T20I squadspin-fighting ability.
He is one of the region’s finest young prospects and will want to make an impact in the short format.
Blades, a left-arm seamer who debuted in December 2024, excelled in the powerplay. He can now show off his T20I talents.
Shai Hope will captain the team, which comprises Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, and Rovman Powell. Andre Russell, who is likely to retire soon, will play in the first two T20Is.
West Indies head coach Daren Sammy stressed the importance of the series in preparing for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka by building momentum with excellent results.
Our goals and strategy are to win the 2026 T20 World Cup. Sammy told ICC that the group has continuity from the last series and will continue to refine our style and brand before the World Cup.
“Our previous two T20 series at home were on the wrong end of the results, but starting against Australia, we want to regain our form at home as we build momentum into next year’s World Cup with our exciting and dynamic group of players,” he said
