Leading a list of 23 foreign players selected by the eight teams on Thursday in Melbourne, Indian batting star Jemimah Rodrigues was retained by the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Draft.
Along with fellow international players Chinelle Henry and Nadine de Klerk, Rodrigues, a Brisbane fan favourite, will rejoin the Heat, bolstering the team’s batting and all-around options for WBBL|10.
Along with England’s Heather Knight, the draft saw the addition of South African speedster Shabnim Ismail and Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu to the Sydney Thunder, creating a strong international trio.
New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr and England’s Sophia Dunkley and Mady Villiers were exciting additions to the Sydney Sixers’ roster.
Along with South African sensation Laura Wolvaardt, Adelaide Strikers acquired a potent group in Sophie Ecclestone and Tammy Beaumont of England.
By selecting South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, England wicketkeeper Amy Jones, and emerging English talent Dani Gibson, the Melbourne Stars bolstered their core.
Sophie Devine of New Zealand, Paige Scholfield of England, and Chloe Tryon of South Africa were added to the Perth Scorchers’ firepower.
By selecting England’s Danni Wyatt, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, and Linsey Smith, the Hobart Hurricanes chose experience and adaptability.
