Jemimah Rodrigues, the star batswoman for India, has spoken out about the heartfelt statement provided by all-rounder Annabel Sutherland following India’s match against Australia in the Women’s World Cup 2025 semifinals. In an incredible batting performance, Jemimah Rodrigues led her team to a record run chase and one of the most memorable victories in World Cup history with an undefeated 134-ball 127.
The Mumbai native acknowledged that it was her moment to enjoy when the all-rounder and her Delhi Capitals teammate Sutherland praised her effort with the bat via text. Ahead of the massive auction for WPL 2026, DC recently retained both of them. Jemimah Rodrigues acknowledged her admiration for Sutherland’s kind disposition and expressed her happiness to be representing DC with him.
It was devastating for them to lose a semi-final after the game. Even though Bellsy doesn’t always express it, I know how much she loves her cricket and how much it means to her. “Your character has been exceptional throughout this tournament,” she wrote in a message to me.
According to a post on DC’s Instagram account, Jemimah Rodrigues wrote, “You truly deserve to own that moment tonight.”
“What a person, I thought when I read that message! Even though we were rivals at the time, she nonetheless reached out to a buddy to support me after they had just experienced the most devastating loss. She is someone I greatly admire. Both DC and ourselves are afraid that she will do something exceptional for Australia. I’m quite happy that we’ll be using the same dressing room once more,” she continued.
