Jemimah Rodrigues, a batswoman for the Delhi Capitals, recently talked about a time she and American pacer Tara Norris went for ice cream on the streets of Mumbai. She mentioned listening in on a boy talking about the WPL.
“Another intriguing tale. I was carrying one foreign player, so I went dressed in a sweatshirt while waiting in line. After that, a man said, “Hey, do you know when WPL will begin? He had no idea that I was waiting in line when I suddenly started to wonder. He’s practically here. So I was interested in what he had to say. On the most recent episode of Breakfast with Champions, Jemimah Rodrigues said, “He adds, ‘Kya solid khelte hai yaar ye ladki log’ (Man, these girls play so well).
And I thought, “Wow, what a moment. It’s sincere, unlike when you meet individuals who occasionally just say it. This is sufficient, I answered; no need for ice cream now,” she said.
Delhi Capitals’ defeat by Mumbai Indians in the WPL championship
The Delhi Capitals performed spectacularly in the WPL’s maiden season. With 12 points from eight games, the team finished at the top of the table after the group stages of the competition. The team, under Meg Lanning’s leadership, appeared to be winning when they faced the Mumbai Indians in the championship game.
Jemimah, 22, had a disappointing campaign, as she only managed to score 126 runs in nine games. She was dismissed for just nine runs in the championship match as the Delhi Capitals fell to the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians.
