30-September-2024, New Delhi: Star batter Jemimah Rodrigues of the Delhi Capitals, who will play for India in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024, had an open discussion on the most recent DC podcast episode.
Among the many subjects covered in the episode were the India batter’s thoughts on her father’s continued practice of providing comments following each game, the team atmosphere at Delhi Capitals, and the impact of the Women’s Premier League on domestic cricket.
“DC resembles a family.”
It’s more than just a team, Jemimah Rodrigues declared. Everyone perceives it as a family.
In the franchise, everyone is cherished and loved. That is the main feature of the team that I would really like to see. Here in the DC family, our strongest asset is undoubtedly our bond, which is clearly visible. Many hours of labor have gone into achieving that, and, if I may use that phrase, it has more to do with our support staff in order to create such a nonjudgmental atmosphere. It’s as though you can be who you truly are and know that people adore you for it.
“The impact of WPL on the domestic scene”
“We all hang out together, and after the last WPL, the topic of how the domestic level of women’s cricket has really improved comes up two or three times. There were a lot of hundreds, runs, and wickets at our domestic level last year, as you can see, and I say that’s because of the WPL. The WPL has raised the bar for women’s cricket. Women’s cricket will benefit much from this type of competition if we keep holding it, she emphasized.
“Her father continues to influence her.”
“After every game, my father gives me input. He has seen me up close and personal, so he not only understands my game inside and out, but he also understands my feelings and thoughts. I am aware of the fact that he won’t say things only to make a statement. I enjoy how honest and raw he is, and that’s what makes it appealing. I phone him before every match, and we say a prayer together. He would sometimes phone me before practice sessions, asking me to work on certain drills that might come in handy during the match, the player disclosed.

The Indian squad will be represented by the 24-year-old cricketer in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which takes place in the United Arab Emirates on October 3.
