Prominent Indian women’s batter Jemimah Rodrigues recently discussed how her first-ever involvement in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) will prepare her for high-pressure scenarios leading up to the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024.
It’s important to note that Jemimah will play for the Trinbago Knight Riders women in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League. Their opening match of the season is scheduled for August 24 early in the morning against the reigning champion Barbados Royals women.
“I think it’s important to just get outside and play cricket before the (women’s) T20 World Cup (2024).” “I believe that these are the matches that I will genuinely receive, with the remaining matches coming from my own preparation,” Rodrigues stated to.
“I believe the best preparation you can have is the more experience you have in those circumstances and during those high-stress periods. Thus, in my opinion, the WCPL serves more as a training ground for the T20 World Cup, she continued.

In addition, Rodrigues discussed a few areas of her game that she has been hoping to work on before the big competitions. Even though the topic of discussion was the WCPL, Rodrigues emphasised the need of being ready for the women’s T20 World Cup.

In addition, she said, “playing for TKR has given me an additional obligation to do everything in my power to ensure my team wins in the end.”

Notably, India’s Shikha Pandey, a former pacer Jhulan Goswami is the team’s mentor, will also play for the Trinbago Knight Riders women in addition to Rodrigues. The major event was moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates in October 2024 as a result of political unrest in that nation.
