Jayant Yadav, an offspinner for India, has committed to Puducherry for the forthcoming domestic campaign. Haryana, the team he has played for since making his first-class debut in 2011–12, has given him a NOC.
ESPNcricinfo is aware that Jayant wanted to play in all three formats, which is why he made this decision. Since Haryana won the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2023–24, he hasn’t played regularly in white-ball tournaments. The management of the squad has chosen Rahul Tewatia and Nishant Sindhu, two spin all-rounders, over Jayant.
In his most recent appearance with the team, Jayant Yadav took 28 wickets in eight games during the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy.
His final game for the team was a quarterfinal match against Mumbai in February, where he scored 40 runs in two innings and took three wickets in a 152-run defeat.
Jayant Yadav, 35, has a wealth of experience; in 90 first-class games, he has taken 265 wickets. Additionally, he has amassed 2924 first-class runs, with three hundreds and fourteen half-centuries, including a peak of 211 against Karnataka in 2012–13. He and Amit Mishra compiled a record 392 runs for the eighth wicket during the innings.
Along with Mumbai wicketkeeper Siddhant Adhatrao and Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Puneet Datey, Jayant Yadav will be one of three professionals at Puducherry. Jayant Yadav, the nephew of former India hitter Wasim Jaffer, is thought to have been a late addition to the team in lieu of Mumbai batter Armaan Jaffer.
at February 2022, Jayant played at Mohali in his most recent of six Test matches against Sri Lanka. Additionally, he played in two Twenty20 Internationals, one in 2016 and one in 2022. He has played for the Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians in the IPL before signing a contract with the Gujarat Titans.
