In the present County Championship, Middlesex has added Indian off-spinner Jayant Yadav. The 33-year-old has expressed his enthusiasm to join the historic county club and will be available for the season’s last four games. Notably, Jayant played six Test matches for the national squad at one stage, taking 16 wickets while doing so.
He has experience playing on English soil and last year played county cricket for Worwickshire, both of which will be helpful to him in the current edition. Jayant stated after joining the squad that he is excitedly anticipating the new chapter and is prepared to assist.
“I am honored and eager to be a part of the illustrious Middlesex County Cricket Club’s rich cricketing history by playing for them in the upcoming Championship games. I had a great time playing county cricket last year, and I’m excited to start a new chapter with Middlesex and help the team succeed,” Yadav said in a club release.
It’s noteworthy that the spinner will be available for selection when Middlesex takes on title contender Essex at Chelmsford next. He will then compete against Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, and Lancashire.

Alan Coleman, the director of cricket for Middlesex, expressed his happiness at Jayant’s arrival. Since Jayant was available and the club management was looking for a successor for Pieter Malan, he wasted no time in bringing the international from India on board.
“We believe that spin will play a significant role in September; therefore, the chance to add a strong international spinner like Jayant was too good to pass up. He provides us with the extra something you get from a professional cricketer: experience, quality, and know-how, all of which will be really helpful to us in the upcoming matches, Coleman said.
