Jay Shah lands in Brisbane for potential Olympics meeting

Jay Shah, the recently appointed chairperson of the International Cricket Council, has arrived in Brisbane. A few hours ago, the former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India reportedly landed in Australia on a Singapore Airlines flight.

Jay Shah has been joined by Devajit Saikia, the BCCI’s joint secretary.

The dignitaries have been settled into the Hotel Sofitel, which is also where the Indian Test squad is staying. Shah will go to a conference for the 2032 Summer Olympics in Brisbane, according to a report. Shah will also be present at the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test, which is set to start at the Gabba on December 14, 2024.

Even for Indian cricket, Shah’s trip to Australia was of incalculable importance. Shah, who just left the BCCI, is now employed independently at the ICC. The 2025 Champions Trophy’s location and timetable are uncertain due to India’s reluctance to travel to Pakistan, the event’s official hosts, and the international administrative body is grappling with a controversial issue.

Additionally, Shah has been invited by the CA and New South Wales (NSW) Cricket to the SCG for the fifth and final BGT Test, which is scheduled for January 3, 2025. How Shah’s current travel affects that program is still unknown.

Shah, who is no longer associated with the BCCI, would expect for a better showing from India if he were to attend the third Test. In relation to the series, it is currently tied at 1-1 after Australia battered them for 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval a few days ago.
