"In my first term, the groundwork was laid." Jay Shah discusses the creation of a high-performance facility in Bengaluru

The high-performance complex in Bengaluru is being completed under the supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The performance centre, which is regarded as one of the board’s top pet projects, is almost finished and scheduled to open in September 2024.

It is important to note that the centre will also be open to non-cricketers. Jay Shah recently told Indian javelin athlete Neeraj Chopra about this. There will be 100 pitches, three grounds, and forty-five indoor turfs at the facility. The various types of pitches that are accessible at the performance venue are also among its most fascinating aspects.

Pitches from any stadium in the globe, including Kingsmead in Durban and the Gabba in Brisbane, will be duplicated at the centre in order to aid team India in their preparation for international games.

Regarding the same, Jay Shah disclosed the difficulties the pandemic presented for the center’s growth, but it was given top priority in the second term.

“Due to the pandemic, a lot of time was spent organising the IPL after I became secretary in October of 2019.” Two years were spent without an office. We determined that we had to move this initiative ahead when we were awarded a second term (in 2022). At the Times of India’s Mumbai office, Shah spoke with Times Group journalists and stated, “The groundwork was laid in my first term.

“Our goal was to utilise the resources we had as efficiently as possible. We acquired that land in 2008, and I’m not sure why my forebears didn’t make use of it. “I am fortunate that raising the academy was part of my destiny,” he continued.

He also disclosed that numerous additional academies are opening up in the nation’s northeastern states, emphasising how it is the BCCI’s duty and their right to be given opportunities.
