AUS vs IND 2024-25: Jasprit Bumrah missing out bowling on ‘spiciest wicket of the series’

I missed the series' hottest wicket, which is frustrating, but that's life. Sometimes you must accept and move on." Bumrah said.

AUS vs IND 2024-25: Jasprit Bumrah missing out bowling on 'spiciest wicket of the series'

India’s captain, Jasprit Bumrah, was unable to bowl in the second innings because of a back spasm, and the other pacers who attempted to take on the Australians on Sunday were only able to manage four wickets.

Against Australia in Sydney on Day 3 of the fifth Test, India was able to set a goal of just 162 runs. By eliminating India, the hosts won the series 3-1 and secured their spot in the 2025 World Test Championship final by chasing the target with six wickets remaining.

However, as their solitary victory occurred in the first Test match in Perth, India was trampled underfoot throughout the series. Since then, it has continued to be a miserable situation for the tourists, with Bumrah being the only notable participant. Despite taking a record-tying 32 wickets in five Test matches, he was disappointed that his back problem prevented him from bowling on the “spiciest pitch of the series.

” In the second innings, Jasprit Bumrah bemoaned the team’s loss of an extra pacer in him, even if he was voted Player of the Series.

Sometimes you have to respect your body; you can’t resist it, even though it can be a little annoying. The fact that I most likely missed out on the series’ most explosive wicket makes it somewhat sad in the end, but that’s the way things stand. You have to accept it and move on sometimes. Bumrah stated following the match.

The others had to shoulder the blame when there was a bowler short. This morning’s conversation focused on the same topic: demonstrating character and holding onto beliefs. There were many ifs and buts, the entire series was fiercely contested, and we were involved in the match today as well, so it’s not like we were out of it. This is the nature of Test cricket. It’s crucial to play to the scenario, create and absorb pressure, and stay in the game longer. You must adjust to the circumstances, and these lessons will be useful to us later on.

“They [young people] have a lot of experience, and they will only get stronger from here. Although we have demonstrated that we have a lot of ability in our group, playing cricket is not easy in Australia. It all comes down to adjusting and picking up new skills. Many young people are eager, and while they are obviously unhappy that we lost the series, they want to continue studying,” Bumrah continued.

Almost five months will pass before India’s next Test series, a five-match away series against England, begins. The tour will start in Leeds’ Headingley on June 20. They face a more difficult test ahead of the red-ball matches: the Champions Trophy 2025, which starts on February 19. India has refused to visit Pakistan and will play all of its matches in the United Arab Emirates.
