Jasprit Bumrah’s Spin Practice Before Sri Lanka Match

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 dead rubber match against Sri Lanka in Dubai, India’s top pacer Jasprit Bumrah was spotted mimicking Ravindra Jadeja’s technique by bowling left-arm spin in the nets. Jasprit Bumrah rolled his arm over in front of batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, then resumed his typical tempo with a shorter run-up.

India, meanwhile, has already guaranteed their place in the September 28 final matchup with Pakistan. Bumrah has played four games in the competition and has handled his workload well. Despite being rested against Oman, he has taken five wickets at an economy rate of 7.33 and an average of 22 in four innings. He led India to a 41-run victory against Bangladesh with figures of 2/18, his finest performance to date.

Bumrah has looked deadly with the new ball, even though he had a rare off day against Pakistan in the Super 4s. In the meantime, he demonstrated his left arm spin bowling skills prior to Friday’s match against Sri Lanka. Interestingly, he has turned a spinner in the nets on multiple occasions, so this is not the first time he has done this.

For the West Indies Tests, Jasprit Bumrah was selected.

The pacer recently responded cleverly to former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif’s suggestion that Jasprit Bumrah was avoiding death overs under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy in order to avoid getting hurt. In response to those assertions, the pacer said, “Inaccurate before inaccurate again.”

The 31-year-old was included in India’s team for the forthcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, which begins in Ahmedabad on October 2, as a sign of the selectors’ confidence in him. After a month-long hiatus after the England Tests, chief selector Ajit Agarkar emphasised that Jasprit Bumrah is well and relaxed.

“He can play in both Test matches. After England, we’ve got a fair break. He didn’t even play in the fifth Test, in fact. This competition has been pretty spaced out until this final week, and there has been a break of around a month or five weeks. “He is eager and prepared to participate in both Test matches,” Ajit Agarkar stated, as cited by TOI.

An important plus for India has been the 31-year-old’s return to full fitness. His workload is being constantly watched after he missed a significant amount of cricket previous year because of a back problem. Bumrah’s performance will be crucial for India’s crucial match against Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup final.
