Ben Stokes' batting struggles against Jasprit Bumrah are examined by Michael Atherton in IND vs. ENG 2024.

Ben Stokes, the captain of England, has gained notoriety by dominating the fast bowlers. But in the current series against India, the 32-year-old has found it difficult to contain pace legend Jasprit Bumrah, who defeated him twice in the same number of games. Before their most recent match, Stokes had the advantage over Bumrah because the pacer from Ahmedabad had lost all six of his matches against him.

Recent times have seen a shift in the rankings as Jasprit Bumrah, the world’s top Test bowler, has amassed 15 wickets in just two Test matches against England. As India looks to become the first team to win a series against Stoke’s England, he will be going all out to maintain his current form. Former cricket player Michael Atherton, meanwhile, evaluated Stokes’ predicament and provided an explanation for his difficulties against the Indian pacer.

Atherton feels that Stokes has struggled to get up his speed since he was rushed against Bumrah. Reminding everyone that Stokes is a superb player of pace, he anticipates a great return from the southpaw.

It’s difficult to pick with the ball moving quickly against him, but as far as I can tell, even Stokes is a very good fast bowler. Along with Jasprit Bumrah, he rushes. The ball appears to have stayed low when he gets the better of him, almost beating him for pace on a few occasions when he is unable to pick up the tempo.

I believe that to be Jasprit Bumrah’s problem.” Michael Atherton said to Sky Cricket:.

The series is now locked at one game apiece in the interim. England has traveled to Abu Dhabi in order to avoid the “heat of the battle” following their defeat in the second Test in Visakhapatnam. The squad won’t be practicing in the United Arab Emirates, according to head coach Brendon McCullum, although they may still engage in some fielding exercises and gym workouts to stay busy. A few days before the third test, which is scheduled to start on February 15, they should arrive in Rajkot.
