The importance of Jasprit Bumrah and workload management are discussed by India's bowling coach Paras Mhambrey in his opening statement.

Paras Mhambrey, the bowling coach for India, has highlighted the need of workload management in cricket by highlighting Jasprit Bumrah absence from the Indian team.

Inactive since September 2022 owing to a stress fracture in his lower back, Jasprit Bumrah is regarded as India’s most useful bowler across all formats. India thus felt his absence during the T20 World Cup in Australia, the World Test Championship final, and other high-profile matches.

Bengal bowler Mukesh Kumar is a valuable addition to India’s Test pace attack in Jasprit Bumrah absence, according to Mhambrey. Mhambrey thinks that developing Mukesh will improve India’s depth in the pace department, even though Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Bumrah are the favored options when healthy.

“I have the chance to train with Mukesh and develop my bench strength at this time. We currently have Siraj, who is bowling well, and we also have Shami and Jasprit Bumrah to support him. But in order to build bench strength, we must go beyond that. As stated by Sportskeeda, Mhambrey told media after India’s victory in the Dominica Test, “Mukesh has an excellent chance to engage with the top bowlers and learn from them.

Given the rigorous schedule of cricket India has been subjected to recently, Mhambrey stated the necessity for discussions around player management and rotation in order to develop a strong bench strength.

“If we look at the last one to 1.5 years, Jasprit Bumrah is one player we missed a lot,” he said. There haven’t been any discussions about who will play red ball and who will play white ball as of yet, but moving forward, we must give breaks to specific bowlers. Giving a bowler a break will allow us to bring in another, building bench strength.

Positive developments have been made about Bumrah’s rejoining the Indian team, and rumours indicate that he might play again during the T20Is in Ireland in August. If it does, that series will be important for him since it will be a significant part of his preparation for the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup.

The Indian team understands the importance of workload management and the necessity to develop new talent to bolster the group. India hopes to strengthen its bowling lineup and continue to produce outstanding results in all forms with the upcoming return of Bumrah and the coaching staff’s attempts to build bench strength.
