Jason Holder has been named the new captain of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) in front of the 2025–2026 International League T20 (ILT20) in the United Arab Emirates. Sunil Narine, the team’s previous captain, is replaced by the West Indies all-rounder.
Jason Holder made his debut with outstanding all-around skills after joining the team earlier this year for the ILT20 2025 season.
Jason Holder stood out, taking 17 wickets and scoring 126 runs at a scorching strike rate of 180, even though the team under Narine’s guidance finished last in the points standings. The team has trusted him to guide them into a new era because of his steady performances with the bat and the ball.
During the 2025 season, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders finished sixth in the six-team tournament with just three victories and seven losses in ten games under Narine’s leadership. The squad also had a difficult time in the 2023 and 2024 competitions, placing last in both years. Ahead of the upcoming season, the management probably brought in new leadership in an attempt to improve the team’s performance.
With standout players like Andre Russell, Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt, Sherfane Rutherford, and Sunil Narine, Holder will be in charge of an ADKR team. It is anticipated that his leadership and extensive T20 expertise in numerous tournaments across the world will infuse the team with new vitality and balance.
Jason Holder has demonstrated his versatility and ability to win games in international T20 cricket by amassing 702 runs and taking 94 wickets in 81 games. He has played for more than nine T20 teams worldwide, and ADKR’s campaign will benefit greatly from his experience.
On December 3, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders will play the Sharjah Warriorz in Sharjah to begin their ILT20 2025–26 season.
