Jason Gillespie resigns as Pakistan's Test team head coach

On Thursday, Jason Gillespie quit as coach of the red ball cricket team, causing problems in the Pakistani cricket community. The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management caused problems for another coach. He will be replaced as the team’s interim coach by former Pakistani pacer Aaqib Javed.

Pakistan is unquestionably one of the most well-liked international cricket teams, and they have produced some of the world’s best players. In 2025, they will also be among the hosts of the next Champions Trophy. The coaching staff and team management have undergone some abrupt changes, therefore the team’s recent developments haven’t been the finest thus far.

Less than two months have passed since former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten quit as head coach of the limited overs format due to issues with squad selection. Now, it appears that the Pakistani team has even more surprises as Jason Gillespie also quit as head coach of the Test team due to issues with the selection board. He will be replaced as interim head coach by former Pakistani pacer Aaqib Javed. The PCB mentioned this problem as well.

“The PCB has appointed former Pakistani pacer Aaqib Javed as the interim red-ball head coach after Jason Gillespie resigned,” the PCB said in a statement that IOL cited.

The PCB is already under a lot of criticism for their team management style. Javed will be Pakistan’s eighth head coach in less than a year. Kirsten and Gillespie resigned because of issues with the board, while other coaches were fired for subpar performance.
