Jamie Overton Out of England Test Summer with Stress Fracture

Jamie Overto, a pacer for England, will not be participating in the country’s next Test summer in July 2024. The 30-year-old will miss England’s Test series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka this summer due to a stress fracture to his lower back.

Jamie Overto has only appeared in one Test match for England thus far, which was in June 2022 against New Zealand. At No. 8, he amassed 97 runs and claimed two wickets.

Jamie Overto appeared to be in for a lengthy career with the English team, but a stress fracture kept him out of the following Ashes series, and the injury has now been discovered again. It is anticipated that he will also miss the forthcoming Ashes series.

Following Surrey’s match with Somerset in the County Championship, Overton had back pain. The fracture might be a major setback for him since he was hoping to be included in England’s T20 World Cup team.

“It is confirmed that Jamie Jamie Overto has a lower back stress fracture.

IndiaToday cited a Surrey spokeswoman as saying, “At this time, there is no schedule for his return, but he will continue his recuperation under the supervision of the Surrey medical department.”

It’s interesting to note that England will be preparing for the eagerly anticipated home Test summer, where they will host the West Indies and Sri Lanka for three-game Test series each, after the completion of the T20 World Cup on June 29. The last Test matchup between the West Indies and Sri Lanka is scheduled to start on July 26 and run through September 6. The Sri Lankan series is scheduled to start on August 21.

After England’s first Test against the West Indies at the Lord’s, veteran Stuart Broad has already announced his retirement from the game, so the bowling lineup for the summer Test matches will be difficult for England to assemble. James Anderson is also expected to say goodbye to Test cricket.
