On Wednesday, March 12, James Anderson, a former English great, was not selected in the 2025 men’s The Hundred draft.
There was no reserve price associated with his name. Anderson was not selected for any of the eight participating teams’ 26 domestic spots.
In May 2024, the 42-year-old announced his retirement from international cricket. He is now the bowling consultant for England. After agreeing to a one-year contract with Lancashire for the upcoming season, he had submitted his name for the draft. He will participate in the T20 Blast under this new contract. If Anderson is selected in May’s wildcard draft, he still has a chance to appear in The Hundred.
Noor and Bracewell land big agreements.
Michael Bracewell of New Zealand and Noor Ahmad of Afghanistan both signed lucrative £200,000 contracts and will play for the Manchester Originals and Southern Brave, respectively. Bracewell’s all-around performance at the just finished Champions Trophy left everyone impressed. Noor did well in the SA20’s previous edition.
David Warner was selected this time around after not making the shortlist the year before. London Spirit purchased him for £120,000. With this transfer, the former Australian top-order hitter will rejoin Justin Langer, his former Australian head coach. Rachin Ravindra, who was chosen by Manchester Originals for the same price as Warner, was another first-timer to reach the Hundred. He had just won the Player of the Tournament award in the Champions Trophy 2025 for his 263 runs in four innings and three ball-related dismissals.
Prior to joining Trent Rockets, Lockie Ferguson played for Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals, earning the same salary as his countryman. He was unable to participate in the recent Champions Trophy for the Black Caps due to an injured hamstring. Later this year, on August 5, the tournament’s fifth edition is set to get underway.
