The hosting rights for the men’s T20I World Cup in 2024 have been a hot topic over the past few months. A subsequent development, however, revealed that the Jamaica government decided not to submit a bid to host the T20I World Cup matches.
The government’s cost-benefit analysis, which was required given the restricted resources at their disposal, is the basis for the same. Olivia Grange, the minister of sport, stood up to discuss how rejecting the application was a difficult but essential decision.

Except for Jamaica, Grenada, and St. Kitts & Nevis, practically every Caribbean nation is scheduled to host a World Cup match.
The T20 World Cup matches will be played in Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Speaking about the same, Olivia Grange approached the stage and stated that the Jamaican government’s best course of action is to invest in the sport at the most fundamental levels. She claimed that the decision to not bid was made after thorough consideration by the stakeholders.
‘It was not an easy decision, and I very much feel the disappointment of supporters who wished to see T20 World Cup games being played in Jamaica,’ said the decision-maker. I was unable to simply follow my heart, though, Grange stated.
