On Tuesday, December 16, just hours after Mumbai and Rajasthan’s 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, star cricket player Yashasvi Jaiswal was reportedly admitted to the hospital due to acute gastroenteritis. The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune was hosting the Super League game.
Throughout the game, the left-handed batter suffered from stomach cramps, which worsened after the game. After that, Jaiswal was transported to the Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad, which is around 13 km away from the event. The cricket player was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis at the hospital, according to the article.
According to reports, the 23-year-old received intravenous medicine and underwent CT and ultrasound examinations. According to a report from The Indian Express, he was instructed to get enough sleep and keep taking his prescription until instructed otherwise.
Mumbai won the match by three wickets and eleven deliveries remaining after successfully pursuing Rajasthan’s 217-run goal going into the game. With a powerful knock that included six fours and seven sixes, Sarfaraz Khan (73 off 22) won Player of the Match.
Jaiswal was only able to score 15 out of 16. On the last delivery of the fourth over of the run chase, Ashok Sharma caught and bowled him.
With a quick, undefeated 41-ball 72, Ajinkya Rahane led Mumbai to victory by remaining strong till the very end. Rajasthan lost all three of its Super League games, and Manav Suthar’s 3-23 in his four-over allotment was insufficient. Despite the victory, Mumbai’s net run-rate (NRR) was comparatively lower than Haryana’s and Hyderabad’s, which prevented them from making it to the final.
Jaiswal was a member of India’s ODI XI in their three-match series against South Africa before playing in the three SMAT 2025 matches. In the series-deciding match on December 6 in Visakhapatnam, Jaiswal recorded his first ODI century. He is anticipated to play in the next three home 50-over matches against New Zealand.
