“Jaiswal has become one of the better slip fielders,” says Ravichandran Ashwin

"The crowd does a lot of sledging, as you are aware. Thus, I do sympathise with Yashasvi," Ashwin remarked.

"Jaiswal has become one of the better slip fielders," says Ravichandran Ashwin

In the face of criticism for his missed catches, Indian veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin defended opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, calling for perspective. India lost the first Test at Leeds because the left-handed batter squandered multiple opportunities in the slip cordon.

Ashwin supported the young player, who has been receiving a lot of criticism, by pointing out that Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja all missed catches during the game.

“Jaiswal has been among the slip cordon’s most improved fielders. It feels a little harder and larger at the Dukes ball. That emotion is therefore crucial. The crowd does a lot of sledging, as you are aware.

Thus, in his YouTube series Ash Ki Baat, Ashwin stated, “I do feel for Jaiswal.”

Mohammad Kaif, a former Indian cricket player, also provided an explanation for why Jaiswal missed catches at pivotal points in the game.

What’s causing Yashasvi Jaiswal to miss catches? When we get harmed while practicing with Duke’s ball, we put on a strap. In this case, there is no free mobility and the fingers are trapped. The strap turns into a sponge, making it impossible to grasp onto the catch. The disadvantage is that the ball bounces off it. On his YouTube channel, Kaif stated that it is important to preserve the innate bond with the ball.

Additionally, Ashwin demanded that Kuldeep Yadav be included in the starting lineup for the July 2 Birmingham Test.

“I’m interested in how England does against him. You have a 125-run lead if Kuldeep can earn you 3/100 and lower the first-inning total to 350. Kuldeep had a part to play and would be a deciding element, in my opinion. It might have been a different game if Kuldeep had participated, Ashwin said.
