Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill’s quick dismissals during the powerplay did not bode well for India’s start in the fifth and final T20I against the Windies. With the outcome of the match hanging in the balance for both teams, West Indies got off to a strong start when Gill and Jaiswal were dismissed by Akeal Hosein.
The Men in Blue managed to win two outstanding T20Is to tie the five-match series at 2-2 despite being 2-0 behind in the overall standings. India easily surpassed the 179-run goal in the fourth game at Lauderhill thanks to a record-equaling 165-run opening partnership between Gill and Jaiswal.
The ball ended up in the bowler Akeal Hosein’s hands in the opening over of today’s match as Jaiswal attempted to switch hit but failed to connect with the bat. Jaiswal failed to make a difference as India concluded the first over at 6/1 despite posting an undefeated 84* in the previous game.
In the third over, Gill left the field without questioning the judgment after the on-field umpire called him out. The 23-year-old was later determined to be not-out because the ball was not hitting the stumps, according to the ball-tracker. India’s score at the end of the third over was 17/2 as a result.
Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma entered the field thanks to the two quick wickets. Notably, the team’s outstanding performance in the third T20I helped the Men in Blue secure their first series triumph. The Indian squad and the crowd will be rooting for Suryakumar and Varma to repeat similar feats of valor in the currently-playing game.
With the series tied at 2-2, the series will be decided by the outcome of the fifth T20I. The players will be inspired to lead their side across the finish line because both teams have displayed strong performances in the four games that have already been completed.
After Jaiswal and Gill were fired early, the following was said on Twitter:
