In light of Tilak Varma’s continuous recuperation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday that Shreyas Iyer will remain in the Indian T20I side for the duration of the current five-match series against the New Zealand national cricket team.
Tilak Varma has resumed physical training and is progressing steadily at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, according to an official media advisory sent by the BCCI on January 26. The left-handed batter will, however, need more time to reach full match fitness and will thus be unable to play in the final two Twenty20 Internationals of the current five-match series against New Zealand. At first, he missed the first three games due to injury.
After he fully recovers, Tilak is anticipated to join the Indian team in Mumbai on February 3 in preparation for India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup warm-up match against South Africa. The club management is eager to make sure he returns without running the risk of being irritated, and they have planned his recuperation schedule with the world tournament in mind.
The Men’s Selection Committee has suggested that Iyer continue to play in Tilak’s stead for the remainder of the series.
With an unbeatable 3-0 lead, India, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, has already enjoyed a dominant run in the series. Before the big tournament, they will use the remaining games to evaluate player roles and improve combinations.

India’s management continues to place a high priority on player fitness and squad stability as the T20 World Cup draws near, making sure that key people are ready for the demands of the competition.
