Rohit Sharma

The goal of any ambitious cricket player is to lead their country one day as captain. It’s not easy to be the leader of a country as passionate about cricket as India is. Nonetheless, a lot of players aspire to experience the honor of leading India. Rohit Sharma became the captain of India following the conclusion of Virat Kohli’s term. The Mumbai batter, however, wasn’t interested in taking up captaincy because he was playing a lot of cricket and had a lot on his plate, according to Sourav Ganguly, the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the time.

“I told Rohit Sharma that he had to say yes or I would reveal your name since there was a lot of pressure to play all forms, and he didn’t want to be captain.

“You guys can see the results, and I’m delighted he took it,” the former captain of India stated in an interview with Kolkata TV. “He is leading from the front today.

Rahul Dravid consented to mentor while considering Indian cricket: Sourav Ganguly

According to Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid was likewise hesitant to assume the Indian senior team’s coaching position because it would need him to spend a lot of time away from home. Nevertheless, considering the interests of Indian cricket first, the great hitter gave his consent.

“We’re traveling for a long time. In addition to having two young boys and a small family, he has played all of his life. Therefore, always being on the road while coaching is not simple. However, he consented after giving Indian cricket some thought, and I hope he will do so going forward since a coach takes time. The idea that he can transform his team in three, four, or five months is not magic. “Minimum time must be given to him,” stated Sourav.

India has already secured their place in the ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals. They have won all eight of their games, making them the only squad in the competition without a loss. On Sunday, November 12th in Bengaluru, they play their last league matchup against the Netherlands.
