There is no shame in losing the T20I series to the West Indies; it serves as a wake-up call. Sunil Gavaskar

Rovman Powell’s team prevailed by a score of 3-2 in the thrilling five-match T20I series between India and the West Indies. After dropping the first two games, the “Men in Blue” displayed outstanding resolve to tie the series. However, the West Indies prevailed with eight wickets to spare in the series finale in Lauderhill, Florida, with to outstanding performances from players like Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran, and Romario Shepherd.

While the Indian team has faced harsh criticism from some quarters, great opener Sunil Gavaskar stated that there is no shame in falling short against the two-time T20 World Cup champions, who have a number of match-winners on their side. Gavaskar preferred that Hardik Pandya and company use the series defeat as a wake-up call.

“The defeat by West Indies shouldn’t be a depressor. Remember that their players have won games for the various IPL franchises they play for and that they have won the ICC T20 World Cup thrice. So, losing to them is not embarrassing because they are a top-tier T20 team, Gavaskar said in his Sportstar column. But it should serve as a wake-up call to India about the areas where it needs to reinforce its side. The next ICC T20 World Cup will be held less than a year from now, therefore replacements for some of those who were rested for this series may not be available for long,” he added.

Recently, at the Queen’s Park Cricket Club, Sunil Gavaskar was honored

One of the best batters in game history is the legendary Sunil Gavaskar. Brian Lara, a legend of the West Indies team, recently honored him at the second Test at Queen’s Park Cricket Club in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The Queen’s Park Cricket Club members gave him a memento to honor the milestone of India and the West Indies’ 100th Test match during the second Test. Following that, the 74-year-old posted photos of himself with Lara on his Instagram account.

“After the magnificent felicitation by Queens Park Cricket Club in Trinidad, with the “Prince of Trinidad,” Brian Lara, and Nigel Camacho, QPCC president. It’s like my second home. Much love and appreciation to my West Indian fans,” wrote an overjoyed Gavaskar in the Instagram description.
