“It seems a little unrealistic,” says Eoin Morgan of his dreams of becoming England’s head coach.

"England are double world champions for a reason: they're not a bad team by any stretch." Morgan stated.

Eoin Morgan

It seems “a bit far-fetched” to former England captain Eoin Morgan to take over as Matthew Mott’s white-ball coach. Following the reigning champions’ appalling performance in the present ICC Cricket World Cup in India, sentiments were expressed.

Eoin Morgan is presently employed as a broadcaster for the ongoing competition. In 2019, Morgan guided England to their first-ever ODI World Cup victory. Having lost five of their last six games, Jos Buttler and company were now mired at the bottom of the ten-team standings when he recently chastised them.

It’s a little unrealistic. It’s okay for anyone to interpret [sic] what I say. I was rather specific about what I believed could be the root of the England team’s performance in this World Cup.

“Not a single player, captain, or member of the team in the changing room can articulate the predicament they find themselves in. Nonetheless, I’m content and, hopefully, confident in my future plans. I enjoy watching on and I love spending a lot of time at home with my little family right now,” Morgan said to Sky Sports.

Eoin Morgan continued by saying it would not be a good idea to change the captain and coach in the middle of the competition.

The 37-year-old continued, saying that England is a strong side and pointing out that they have won the World Cups in both the ODI and T20 formats. The left-hander also brought up current head coach Mott, saying the team needs to give him more time to get back to winning ways.

In fact, I believe that discussions about changing the coach and captain are not a good idea right now due to the frequent rotation of World Cups. They’re not a horrible team by any means, which is why they’ve won two world titles. At the present, Matthew Mott is facing the greatest task of his coaching career as an England coach. It’s something he should be allowed time to overcome, especially leading up to the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the USA, he continued.
