When discussing her son’s inclusion in India’s 2026 T20 World Cup squad, Suchitra Singh, Ishan Kishan’s mother, was overcome with emotion.
After learning that her son had been chosen for India’s squad for the major event, Kishan’s mother was questioned about her sentiments. She instantly started crying as she spoke, remembering the occasion.
“I just worshipped God, nothing more. I looked at God and my eyes began to well up with tears. “My son has put in a lot of work and deserves this call-up,” Suchitra said in an interview with News18.

The amount of hate Ishan Kishan got for taking a break just because he was suffering from mental fatigue is unforgivable.#IshanKishan pic.twitter.com/0qQGJ1P2nn

Ishan Kishan just guided Jharkhand to their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy victory in 2025.
With two fifties and an equal number of hundreds, the left-handed hitter finished as the top run scorer with 517 runs at a scorching strike rate of 197.32 in ten games.
For those who don’t know, Kishan was taken off the BCCI yearly retainership list in early 2024 because he didn’t play domestic cricket for Jharkhand, even though the board thought it was essential for all players when they weren’t playing for their country.
Since 2023, when he last played for India, Kishan has not been taken into consideration. He didn’t give up, though, and returned to domestic cricket to establish himself. Kishan will be Sanju Samson’s backup for the opening and wicketkeeping positions in the upcoming mega tournament.
