Despite the BCCI's order, Ishan Kishan still skips the Ranji Trophy.

It was particularly instructed that Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Deepak Chahar represent their respective local teams in the last round of the Ranji Trophy 2024 league phase. For unclear reasons, they have chosen to forego the fixtures.

Iyer may have been absent because of lower back and groin problems. In their final league match, Mumbai, his home team, is currently taking on Assam. Mumbai has already advanced to the quarterfinals.

After being included in the Indian team for the first two Tests of their five-match series against England, the right-hand batsman scored 35, 13, 27, and 29 in his four innings of action. Iyer was consequently benched for the final three Test matches.

Ishan Kishan, in the meantime, is working with Hardik Pandya.

The new captain of the Mumbai Indians, in Baroda. Midway through India’s tour of South Africa, the gifted batsman-wicketkeeper had requested a respite. With no hope of making it to the knockout stages, Jharkhand is mired in seventh place in the Elite Group A points standings. They are playing Rajasthan in their final league match, and the gifted Kumar Kushagra is still keeping wicket.

Regarding Chahar’s unavailability, there has been no specific update. In December 2023, the Chennai Super Kings pacer played his final match for his country, Australia.

A question concerning centrally contracted players missing domestic matches was posed to BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently. He promised to issue a directive requiring all fit, centrally contracted players to make themselves available for domestic cricket team selection.

“If you are well, we won’t accept any excuses. Every participant with a central contract must participate in this; it is a must. The selectors must make that decision; the player cannot dictate his own future. “The player must play if he excels in red-ball,” Shah stated.
