Ishan Kishan has joined Nottinghamshire for two Division One County Championship games. Ishan Kishan , who replaces Kyle Verreynne, signed the short-term contract. Later this month, the South African will travel to Zimbabwe for a two-Test trip while on national service.
The left-handed Indian batsman might be selected for the June 22 and June 29 matches against Somerset and Yorkshire at Trent Bridge and Taunton, respectively.
“I can’t wait to play county cricket for the first time in England; it will be a fantastic opportunity to show off my abilities. I want to be as good a cricket player as I can be, and playing in English will help me pick up new abilities. According to ESPNcricinfo, Kishan said, “I am really excited that I will be playing at Trent Bridge, which is such a famous ground that is well-known in India and around the world.”
A ‘hard-hitting middle-order hitter’ like Ishan Kishan joining the team appeared to delight Nottinghamshire’s head coach, Peter Moores, just as much.
“We want players to be authentic and offer their own unique style, and Ishan’s eagerness to participate in county cricket particularly thrills me. As a hard-hitting middle-order batter with demonstrated skill in ball-striking, he is eager to advance his red-ball game, which will undoubtedly make him eager to perform,” Moores said.
Seven games into the season, Nottinghamshire leads Division One. With four victories in seven games and 115 points overall, they are in first place. Seeing how the county uses Ishan Kishan could be fascinating to observe.
Ishan Kishan will now be part of the group of Indian cricket players competing in this season’s championship.
Yuzvendra Chahal is expected to return to Northamptonshire soon, Ruturaj Gaikwad will be wearing the Yorkshire shirt in the second half of the English summer, and Tilak Varma has briefly joined Hampshire.
