In the opening Twenty20 International encounter of the five-match series, India defeated visiting Australia by two wickets on November 23 in Vishakhapatnam. After winning the toss, India elected to bowl, and the Australians laid a solid platform when Josh Inglis struck a spectacular century to start the innings and help his side reach a formidable 209 runs.  He made it apparent that he intended to take on Australian spinner Tanveer Sangha, saying that he had previously discussed the move with Suryakumar Yadav.

Ishan Kishan strong batting reversed the tide even though he lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early.

Ishan Kishan innings began with a quiet over against Jason Behrendorff, but any strain caused by Gaikwad’s run-out was quickly relieved by Yashasvi Jaiswal. As Kishan gained in, he supported Suryakumar’s attack by aggressively going after the Australian bowlers, especially Sangha. Using the slog sweep to perfection, he broke Sangha’s rhythm by hitting two sixes and a four in the ninth over of India’s chase, keeping the young leg-spinner off balance.

“I spoke with Surya Bhai. We need to close the margin between runs and balls; therefore, I’m going to take this man down wherever he bowls. Too many runs cannot be left for the back-of-the-infield hitters. They won’t find it simple to take the big shots right away. After the game, Kishan remarked, “I had to take my chances and I believed in myself.”

Days after the disastrous World Cup final, India overcomes Australia.

India demonstrated a team batting effort against Australia in Visakhapatnam during the difficult chase of 209 runs. Suryakumar, who excels in this format, took charge of the squad for the first time and showed off his skills with a scorching 80 off 42 deliveries.

His brilliant innings drove India’s pursuit and made sure the team stayed competitive as they chased the enormous target. After he left, there was a small snag for India, but Rinku Singh’s cool, unbeaten 21 off 14 deliveries ensured they won.

India recorded their most successful run-chase in the format when they defeated Australia in the opening Twenty20 International, only four days after losing the ODI World Cup final.
