Ishan Kishan’s fielding, however, was careless; despite the ball being directly next to him, he strangely missed it.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the toss and chose to bat first in the 27th game of the 2025 Indian Premier League, which is now taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. While Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made a move by replacing Kamindu Mendis with Eshan Malinga, PBKS remained the same.
With Mohammed Shami receiving the new ball from SRH and Prabhsimran Singh and youngster Priyansh Arya opening for PBKS, the match got off to a dramatic start. The game descended into mayhem from the second ball of the innings. Prabhsimran smashed a length drive from Shami outside off right past the bowler for what appeared to be an easy pair.
The drama was increased when the batter failed to ground his bat while completing the second run, and the third umpire called a short run. Only one was consequently put to the scoreboard. It was a dramatic beginning to a fierce competition.
All guns firing, PBKS emerged in spite of the turmoil. They maintained a run rate of 16.5 as they sped to 66 runs in just four overs. Prior to Priyansh Arya’s blazing 36 off 13 balls falling to Harshal Patel and being caught by Nitish Kumar Reddy, the opening pair established a strong platform. Captain Shreyas Iyer joined Prabhsimran Singh at the crease as he maintained the attack with a forceful 28 off only 13 balls.
With three victories from their first four games of the season, PBKS is feeling very confident. SRH has only won one of their first five games, which is a poor start. When SRH plays at home, they hope to improve their performance in front of their supporters and battle hard against the Punjab team, who are currently playing well.
