On April 25, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk to end a five-match losing streak. With outstanding bowling performances, SRH defeated the Men in Yellow by five wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
With the exception of their inaugural game, which saw them defeat the Mumbai Indians (MI), the Yellow Brigade has been having trouble at home in the 2025 Indian Premier League. This year, CSK had one of their worst seasons after losing four straight games in Chepauk.
The Men in Yellow typically keep the opposing teams enthralled and overwhelm the opponents on their spin-friendly tracks. However, CSK was unable to overcome the competition this year and has dropped four of their first five games. With just two wins from its nine IPL 2025 games, the MS Dhoni-led squad is at the bottom of the standings.
In the 2008 season, the five-time champions lost their final two home games, and in 2010, they dropped their first two games. This is the only occasion in IPL history that they have lost four straight games. The five-time champions suffered home losses to the Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in this year’s IPL.
CSK lost four of their seven home games in the 2008 IPL season, which was the tournament’s first iteration. CSK lost four games at Chepauk in 2012, including the finals against KKR, after winning the championship in 2011.
CSK has two more home games this season: one against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 12 and another against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 30. To finish the season on a high note at Chepauk, the Super Kings will try to win both of their games in front of the home crowd.
