However, it was Rohit Sharma who ended India’s trophy jinx of more than 11 years by leading the team to the 2024 ICC title. In February 2022, the ‘hitman’ took over as captain, making him just the third Indian skipper to win the World Cup following Dhoni and Kapil Dev. Indian analyst and former Ranji player Padamjeet Singh Sehrawat made a daring statement when he called Rohit a “bigger captain” than Dhoni, as Indian fans anticipate another ICC victory under Rohit with the Champions Trophy 2025 approaching.
