Irfan Pathan, a former cricket player from India, has announced his starting lineups for both England and India ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy’s third Test, which starts at Lord’s in London on Thursday, July 10. India won by a commanding 336 runs at Edgbaston, tying the five-match Test series at one.
On his YouTube channel, the former all-rounder stated that India’s batting lineup doesn’t need many adjustments. He supported Karun Nair to stay at No. 3 despite his recent difficulties and picked KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal to start the batting.
Nair only needs one strong knock to return to the running, according to Irfan Pathan.
The in-form batsmen Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill, who have contributed significantly in the last two games, should stay in their respective positions, he added. No. 6 was assigned to Ravindra Jadeja, and No. 7 was given to Nitish Kumar Reddy by Irfan. Despite Reddy’s lack of runs in the first two innings, Irfan Pathan thinks he would become better with time in England.
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep were added to the XI by Irfan to complete the pace attack after Gill confirmed that Bumrah would return for the Lord’s Test following a well-earned break.
Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and skipper Ben Stokes will be in the middle-order roles for England, while Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley will remain as openers, according to Irfan. He put batsman-wicketkeeper Jamie Smith at number seven.
Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse were part of Irfan’s bowling attack because Lord’s usually provides more support to pacers. Along with removing spinners Shoaib Bashir and youthful Josh Tongue from the starting lineup, he also selected Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson, both of whom were recovering from injuries.
