Two former greats, Dale Steyn and Irfan Pathan, have provided their predictions for which sides will advance to the championship game.
Steyn emphasized his sincere desire for South Africa to get to the final because he thinks that the team has a big edge due to their experience with Indian conditions as a result of the participation of several players who have participated in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“I know my heart wants South Africa to get to the final, but it’s a tough one. Dale Steyn acknowledged the tough competition, though, and expressed a tendency to concur with cricketing legend Waqar Younis that India and England are the favorites. “My heart wants to say South Africa and India, but I am kind of leaning towards India and England,” Steyn continued.
Irfan Pathan, on the other hand, acknowledged the strength of the reigning champions England, praising their dynamic all-rounders in particular. He favored South Africa, though, and thought they would do well in this World Cup.
On the basis of logic, England cannot be removed from the finalist lineup because they have a very powerful team. He echoed Waqar Younis’ comments about India’s performance at the Asia Cup and lauded their present form and meticulous preparation.
For me, it’s South Africa and India,” Irfan Pathan stated with assurance.
“South Africa has a great chance to do well in this World Cup because they came here with a strong team and good form, but India will definitely win this World Cup because they are in their best form right now and also because, like Waqar Younis said about how they performed in the Asia Cup, they have, in my opinion, ticked all the right boxes at the right time,” he said.
