Ireland received a 10% match fee fine for playing Australia slowly in the second ODI.

In the second game of their ICC Women’s Championship series on Tuesday in Dublin, Ireland was penalized 10% of their match money for playing Australia with a sluggish over-rate.

Ireland was deemed to be two overs short of the objective when time allowances were taken into account, and Philip Thompson of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees assessed the sentence.

For each over that a team fails to bowl in the permitted time, players are penalised 5% of their match fee in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses minimum over-rate offenses.

No formal hearing was required because Captain Laura Delany admitted guilt and agreed to the suggested punishment.

Jareth McCready, Paul Reynolds, and Mark Hawthorne, three on-field umpires, made the accusation.

On the first day of the Australia Women’s tour of Ireland, no balls were bowled and the match was called off. In the second one-day international, the guests defeated the hosts by 153 runs to take a 1-0 series lead. In regards to the outcome of the match, Australia batted first and amassed 321/7 in their allotted 50 overs.

Ashleigh Gardner played an outstanding knock of 65(39), striking seven fours and three sixes at a tremendous strike rate of 166.67. Ellyse Perry top-scored for the visiting team with her 99-ball 91, while Gardner had a superb innings of 65(39). The best wicket-taker for Ireland was Georgina Dempsey, who finished with 4/54 in 10 overs.

Ireland’s batting came to an end as a result of the wickets of top-order batters Gaby Lewis and Amy Hunter during the target chase. All other eight batters failed to reach double digit runs scored, while skipper Laura Delany scored 18 runs. The Australian bowlers’ combined efforts led to the hosts’ innings being over in 38.2 overs with just 168 runs scored, giving the visitors the victory.
