Ireland fined for slow over-rate vs India in 3rd Women's ODI

In the third ODI of their ICC Women’s Championship series against India in Rajkot on Wednesday, Ireland’s players maintained a slow over-rate, earning them a 10% match fee penalties.

After time allowances were taken into account, Ireland was determined to be two overs short of the objective, and G S Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees assessed the sentence.

For each over their team fails to bowl in the allocated time, players are penalised 5% of their match fee in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with minimum over-rate offences.

There was no need for a formal inquiry because Ireland captain Gaby Lewis admitted to the crime and agreed to the suggested punishment.

The accusation was made by third umpire Virender Sharma, fourth umpire Vrinda Rathi, and on-field umpires Kim Cotton and Akshay Totre.

In a three-match ODI series, India’s women thrashed Ireland’s women, with the Women in Blue winning the third and final game by the largest margin of 304 runs. Pratika Rawal’s fiery tonne and Smriti Mandhana, the India Women’s stand-in captain, help India achieve a record victory.

By hitting the fastest ODI century ever by an Indian batter, Smriti Mandhana took the lead. She broke Harmanpreet Kaur’s record by 17 balls as she reached a hundred in just 70 balls. Pratika Rawal, however, scored her first ODI century in 100 balls. She used 129 balls to score 154 runs.
