Before their Kolkata leg of the major pre-tournament camp starts in March, the IPL’s reigning champions, the KKR, have begun their 18th season preparations with a week-long training camp in Mumbai. Their key domestic talent will be gathered for seven days of intensive training and team-building exercises as part of the ongoing program.
Nine of KKR’s local players are participating in the camp, which takes place from February 21 to February 28 and aims to generate early momentum before the new season.
Venkatesh Iyer is at the head of the group, followed by Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora, and others. Young players like Mayank Markande and Luvnith Sisodia, as well as Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who had a fantastic rookie season in 2024, are also part of the program.
Under the direction of head coach Chandrakant Pandit and his support staff, the training camp includes team-building exercises, match simulation exercises, specialized strength and conditioning sessions, and skill training in the nets.
“The players who aren’t playing domestic cricket right now are accessible and have come to our brief preseason training. For us, this is standard procedure in every season. After the ICC Champions Trophy, we will have the international players available for a camp in Kolkata starting on March 12. When the entire team gets together, we will begin our true preparation, but this camp will help us settle into a routine. Head coach Chandrakant Pandit stated, “We are confident because we have our core group intact, and I am confident that with the players we have brought in (at the Auction), our combinations will be very strong like last season.”
Carl Crowe, the coach of spin bowling, added, “We have a lot of nets and a lot of match simulation scheduled for the next few days.” Thus, it’s a chance for the majority of the group to reunite. Many well-known men are present, and it’s nice to see some new ones as well. Maintaining a fresh squad is crucial. We had a great year last year, of course, but you have to keep thinking about how to move forward. The entire event has everyone giddy with anticipation.
Along with spin bowling coach Carl Crowe, the coaching staff at the camp will also comprise bowling coach Bharat Arun, strength and conditioning coach Sagar V, and head physio Prasanth Panchada, guaranteeing the players receive professional direction in all area of their preparation.
Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, Ramandeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora, Anukul Roy, Manish Pandey, Luvnith Sisodia, Mayank Markande, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi are among the entire list of domestic players taking part in the camp. Exactly one month later, on Saturday, March 22, KKR will play their season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens to kick off their TATA IPL 2025 campaign.
