Due to an injury, South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams will not be participating in the next IPL 2025. In his stead, the Mumbai Indians have signed his countryman Corbin Bosch. On Saturday, March 8, the franchise announced the news of the replacement.
Bosch is an all-round bowler who has played 86 Twenty20 matches and represented South Africa (SA) in one Test and two ODIs. In addition to making his international debut in December, the 30-year-old was selected to replace the injured Anrich Nortje in the Proteas’ 15-man Champions Trophy roster.
Bosch, who has not yet made his IPL debut, was signed by the Rajasthan Royals in 2022 to replace Nathan Coulter-Nile of Australia. Prior to that, he was a net bowler for the team.
Notably, on Sunday, March 23, the five-time champions will play their first match of the 2025 Indian Premier League against their bitter rivals, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The team will be led by Hardik Pandya, while more seasoned players like Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav support them.
The Mumbai-based team added Will Jacks, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, and Deepak Chahar to its roster in the 2018 season’s major auction. Although the arriving Bosch isn’t guaranteed to be selected for the starting lineup, his intense batting abilities could make him an impact player.
