IPL teams are warned by the BCCI to be wary of a Hyderabad businessman.

All parties involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have received a warning from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over efforts to lure players into possibly dishonest practices. Owners, players, coaches, support personnel, and even commentators have been warned by the BCCI that a businessman with questionable credentials is actively trying to trap league participants.

The Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) appears to think that a Hyderabadi businessman who has a history of corrupt activities and obvious connections to bookies and gamblers is attempting to make friends with participants. All IPL participants have been requested by the ACSU to report any encounters with the businessman as well as any potential relationships or activities with him.

It is also believed that the ACSU warned everyone in the league to be careful. Individuals and teams have been urged to stay vigilant and report any pertinent approaches. According to reports, the person’s strategy is to lure unwary victims with pricey presents, such as jewellery.

By pretending to be a fan, the person in question is allegedly trying to get close to the IPL players.

He has reportedly been seen attempting to make friends with players and staff, inviting possible targets to private parties, and attending team hotels and games. Additionally, he has reportedly given gifts to both team players and their families.

He allegedly uses a variety of strategies, including contacting the relatives of team owners, players, coaches, support personnel, and even pundits. He allegedly pretended to be a fan and offered to take them to upscale hotels and jewellery stores. Additionally, there are hints that he might have tried to get in touch with family members who were living overseas, frequently via social media.

In the past, the ACSU had warned the clubs that new technology has made their problems more severe and advised everyone in the league to be vigilant. The BCCI stated it is dedicated to doing everything within its power to stop corrupt practices that compromise the integrity of cricket as a sport and asked for everyone’s assistance.
