BCCI's historic IPL 2025 announcement,, players to earn INR 7.5 lakhs extra per match

To finalize the retention policy for the upcoming season, the IPL governing council will convene at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru on September 28. When the officials met with the IPL owners on July 31 to go over the options, teams like the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders expressed their opposition to the mega-auction, while the Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants said they were amenable to the idea of delaying the mega-auction.

Punjab Kings, however, supported the mega-auction, and BCCI officials will maintain the status quo as of right now. Each side will probably be allowed to keep five players, including two international players and three Indians. It could, however, alter depending on what the office holders decide during their Bengaluru meeting.

According to, the decision to hold a meeting to decide on the retention policy was made at the last minute. On September 27, the authorities received the invitation to the meeting, and they were invited to attend the next day. Notably, a meeting of the governing council was scheduled to take place before of the general body of the BCCI’s scheduled meeting on Sunday, September 29 in Bengaluru, which set off rumors.

During the first meeting between the BCCI authorities and all the teams, the Sunrisers Hyderabad owners presented a proposal asking the governing body to permit eight retentions and to reinstate the Right To Match (RTM) cards. The BCCI discarded that prior to the mega-auctions in 2022, and previous reports suggested that it would proceed in the same way. However, the upcoming meeting has the potential to alter the situation.

After the general body meeting, the IPL committee is anticipated to reveal the retention policy by Saturday at the latest, or at the latest, Sunday evening.

Regarding the mega-auction, it is anticipated to occur in Saudi Arabia in November. That will probably be finalized at the same meeting by BCCI officials.
